The Hamburger clarinetist and saxophonist Heike Zechner arranged this well-known work of Johann Sebastian Bach's for saxophone quartet. In the original the fuge and prelude are in D major. This version has both parts in E-flat (not transposed), so that they are more easily played by all saxophones in range and fingerings.

In the fuge attention should be paid to working through each theme's entry dynamically. The sixteenth passages should be played fluidly and with a loose embouchure. The phase that occurs the most, with two slured and two tounged notes, should, if necessary, be practised separately and in tempo.

Included in delivery:

  • transposed score
  • Sax 1: Soprano
  • Sax 2: Alto
  • Sax 3: Tenor
  • Sax 4: Baritone

  • Besetzung satb
  • Schwierigkeitsgrad 4-5
